Where Art Thou July?

I am just going to throw this out there. The days, the months, this year has FLOWN by me! Like what happened to July!? That is a serious question. I am not going to complain though. August is going to be an amazing month! Three of my best friends (Chrystal, Mikee and Ashley) are coming down for a visit! It will be their first time in NOLA! AHHHH!!! I am like soooo pumped its ridiculous! At the end of August, Labor Day weekend, I plan on coming up to see everyone. Dear August, You will Rock my world, Love Janelle.

Mike, Chrystal, Ash and I

So I think its sooo funny when I jump on Facebook and see everyone up north in turmoil over the 90 degree weather. Don't get me wrong, if I was still up there I know for a fact I would be one of the many complaining about the heat! Now I just shake my head and say "Get your butt down to New Orleans where its always 90-100 degrees everyday!" I am just going to throw this out there, 90 degrees I can deal with. 100 UM NO! That will be the end of that discussion.
A couple weeks ago Ash and I decided to head to Florida for the weekend to get our tan on. We have been complaining about how we are losing our color because there is no beach/lake anywhere. If you ask anyone down here where they go to lay out, they say Gulfport, Mississippi. REALLY!? A different state!? Like WHAT IS GOING ON!? In Michigan all I had to do was drive down my road and there was the lake. Now you are telling me I have to drive to another state to go lay out? Strike one New Orleans.  (End of tangent) We arrive in Florida, the Sunshine State. Not so sunny that weekend. It rained everyday. That didn't stop us from at least enjoying the warm pool! Ash had convinced us all to jump in the pool while it was raining cats and dogs. That is one memory that will stick with me for a lifetime. Luckily I also have pictures to remind me just how awesome my family really is.
Now in the 25 years I have been alive on this Earth I have never seen my Uncle Joe in the pool. Low and behold this man is swimming like a fish and doing cannon balls in the pool. I LOVED every minute about that weekend. Even though it was rainy I would not have asked for it any other way. Cheesy I know.

My favorite couple in the world!

Action Shot!: Me jumping in with my pjs on!

Love them...

Of course we can't go to Florida and not try out a new restaurant! This time it was a breakfast/lunch place called Not Another Broken Egg. This place blew my frickin mind! I am not a big fan of eggs, but this trip I really wanted to  try an omelet. I love seafood and many of their omelets have crab, lobster and even crawfish in them. We, Aunt Pat, Uncle Joe, Ash and I, all decided to get different omelets and kind of pick at each others omelets. HANDS DOWN, mine was the best! A lobster and brie omelete. Honestly, does it get much better then that? Answer: NO!

This past weekend while Ash and I were out shopping we found some really cool shirts! The shop, called Storyville sells really cool and unique t-shirts! You can find them on Facebook or their website. We know, we know. We look fresh ta death. :)

One more thing, who out there loves the Goonies? If you said no, then we must not be friends. GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!  Anyways, a my coworker of mine, his wife wrote a modern day tale of a group of kids going on a treasure hunt. The book is called The Gubbins Club. Go grab one up. Even at 25 years old I couldnt put it down!

Manic Everyday

What a month June was! Fathers Day was a pretty special one this year. We actually got to spend it with one of the best dads/uncles in the galaxy! We even bought him a trophy to let him know just how awesome he really is. We did a little shopping and ate at Atlas Oyster House restaurant in downtown P-Cola. Pretty good food. They even had grits with Gouda cheese. Can we just say YUUMMMM!!!!

Bacon wrapped shrimp from Atlas Restaurant . Absolutely delicious!!

It was time for business after our fun filled weekend in Florida. Janelle FINALLY got a J-O-B! I am now a project administrator for Mechanical Construction Company (MCC for short)

It is my first 40 hr job and I really do like it. Waking up at 5:30 is already getting old, but hey it pays the bills. So I will suck it up. I work right on Canal St., which is pretty cool. Minus the fact that even after being at this job for almost a month I still get lost. These one way streets are NO JOKE! So anyway, MCC is one of the companies that are working on the biggest construction work sites in the United States! I mean this project is Massive!!!!! Click on this Link to see live pics and a better understanding of how amazing this University Medical Center will be.

I am officially allowed to enter the biggest job-sites in the US.
Another huge milestone in my life is that I am no longer a Westbank girl! For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, let me explain. Westbank sits right on the Mississippi River and is west of New Orleans. In order to get to Avondale (Westbank area) I would have to jump on I-10 West then cross the Huey P Bridge everyday. Let me just mention that if there is a traffic jam on the bridge, the only other way to get home is getting back on 10 East then hitting 90 West. I know you don't know the highways around New Orleans, just let me tell you it is a pain in the ass. It is an extra 30 minute drive, but that no longer applies to me. I AM A CITY GIRL! Pictures will be coming soon. I hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Until next time....
