To-Mae-Toe...Too-Mah-Toe

So this weekend Ashley, Andrew and I decided to venture to Freret St. If you are looking for colorful people, awesome drink specials and captivating restaurants, Freret St is the street to be on! Our first stop was Publiq House...they have by far the best drink specials. I started my night of fun with a Flordora. It consists of gin (only my favorite thing EVER), Framboise, lime and ginger ale. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! They also have the cutest mason jars they use for all of their drinks! Love, Love, Love
Can I just point out that Louisiana is a sports crazy state. Here is a tip on coming down and not knowing anybody: Bring up either LSU or The Saints and you have made a friend for life! Back to the good stuff...Draaankkss! I am obsessed with a White Russian. At Puliq's they  serve them frozen. Pretty interesting take on the drink. Nonetheless D-E-LICIOUS!
They also have live music on the weekends! There patio is small but when you're having a good time who cares!

Dont mind the spelling error!

What can I say about Wayfare Restaurant??? I will sum it up in 5 words.
  1. UNBELIEVABLE
  2. EXTAORDINARY
  3. HIPPY
  4. DELECTABLE
  5. CHEESE
Wayfare Website

I am like completely obsessed with cheese. Let me just really start with that. At Wayfare they have a cheese board that goes above and beyond any cheese board I have ever had! The manager comes out and explains where each cheese is from, its name, and what to pair it with. Can I just say that one of the cheese spreads on the board smelled like death, but was the best thing that I have ever, ever, ever, ever, eaten in my life. Emphasis one more time on the EVER.

BEST BURR IN THE SOUTH! :)

Yummy dirty tini from Wayfare!

Two awesome cheese boards. Brushetta with
bleu cheese, chickpeas and slice tomatoes!
Everyday visit for these amazing apps!

Delicious cured meats! (Mouth watering has started)

The French Market held the Creole and Tomato Festival this weekend. It's a pretty small festival but offers different take on tomatoes and creole that are combined with ordinary dishes. I.E. pasta, crepes, tomato cupcakes, etc. I had the best Bloody Mary while wandering the Market! Lets just say everyone should add a little garlic powder in there next B.M's! Yumm Yumm.. :)

Saturday Sadness Due to Friday Madness!

Everyone knows that New Orleans is known for the BEST bars/restaurants, thank the stars above I am not one who likes to venture to them on a daily basis. If I was to be one of  those people, Nola would be the best and worst place for me. Here I sit at my computer...7:30 pm...Just starting to feel like a human! NAY! A human who can move, eat, drink, walk, and breath (pretty much Janelle with no alcohol in her system). So let me try to put this night together for you. A scavenger hunt if you will.
Columns Website
It all started at the Columns. My twin sister Ashley, her friend Trey, and I decided to start our evening here. Now if you have never been to Nola and don't know St. Charles Ave, you have never seen southern charm at its finest! Literally the most perfect street in the world. Extravagant houses, amazing restaurants and bars, AND you get a trolley in the median! (I love to exaggerate, but this time I mean BUSINESS!
The Columns is a magnificent plantation house that has been renovated into a hotel/restaurant/bar. Known for their Mint Juleps, (Yummmm) The Columns bar/restuarnt is in the lower level (they also have amazing outside seating), while the hotel is upstairs. I recommend sitting outside. Passing trolleys, people watching, I could sit there all day! I totally recommend this place to any visitor searching for a little southern charm. Here is a recipe for the -> Mint Julep <- if you would like to try one delicious southern drink! A HUGE P.S. If you are obsessed with Alicia Keys her new single "Fire We Make" was filmed here! EEKKSS!!! Here is her video featured in The Columns

Our song requests:
I Believe I can Fly
Lets Stay Together
I Saw the Sign
Next and last stop would be Pat O'Briens. Here they serve the infamous amazing Hurricanes. This piano bar is hard to get in and has limited seats, but if ya know someone and that person knows someone, then HEY! you find yourself in there on a busy Friday night getting your drink on! Just write your songs on the napkin, throw a couple dollars on top of said napkin and wait to get your groove on! One amazing place to try, but WATCH OUT those Hurricanes are one dangerous drink!
Ash getting her drink on!

Yummy, but dangerous!
So here I am grouchy, hungry, tired, and hungover, Ash more than me. But what an adventure last night was! So my Michiganders if you wanna come join me in some Hurricane drinking, Columns lounging, people watching fun, COME ON DOWN!
